FRATRES
2008, Performance for 9 persons at a time

Tiyatro Z, Istanbul, TR

On the occasion of Galata Perform - Visibility Project. Curated by Deniz Aygun

October 2009

FRATRES is a meditative performance for two performers and a violinist based on the composition Fratres by Arvo Pärt. In a closed dark room, nine guests are invited at a turn to take place on chairs placed in a circle. The man, laying in the middle, is covered by a long scarf with LED lights. The woman wraps the scarf around the guests so that by being connected by its luminescence, the spectators become one single body of light. The violinist plays the composition, standing behind each one of the persons for each of the nine segments of the piece. One small light is placed at the end of his bow. Once the piece is finished, the woman unwraps the guests from the scarf. Exiting, the guests are offered a crystal prism.

In collaboration with Stephan Knies (Violin)
