FRATRES is a meditative performance for two performers and a violinist based on the com-position Fratres by Arvo Pärt.
In a closed dark room, nine guests are invited at a turn to take place on chairs placed in a circle. The man, laying the middle, is covered by a long scarf with LED lights. The woman wraps the scarf around the guests, so that by being connected by its luminescence, the spectators become one single body of light. The violinist plays the composition, standing behind each one of the persons for each of the nine segments of the composition. Only one light is placed at the end of his bow. Once the composition is finished, the woman unwraps the guests from the scarf. Exiting, the guests are offered a crystal-prism.
"I could compare my music to white light which contains all colours. Only a prism can divide the colours and make them appear; this prism could be the spirit of the listener." ~ Arvo Pärt
