VestAndPage hosts conversations with inspiring people from the arts, culture and science, in the form of shared contemplations between contemporary performance art, philosophy, and pandemic-era cultural preservation.
The momentum video conversation series was conceived during the global isolation of 2020, and served as an existential rescue mission for an artistic medium inherently reliant on physical presence: performance art. These early dialogues were later compiled by Andrea Pagnes into the book Notes from Isolation and Momentum Conversations in Times of Plagues (2024), providing an archive of how radical thinkers navigated collective fear, distorted temporality, and a state of permanent crisis of those years.
The structural framework of momentum intentionally rejects contemporary debate culture and looks instead for the acceptance of uncertainty. It explores complex socio-political issues such as climate emergencies, rising authoritarianism, and corporate capitalism through deep inquiry rather than simplified answers. Finally, the project seeks to bridge the gap between critical theory and the lived experience of performance art, as a cross-contamination of radical bodily practices and philosophical critiques. These approaches shift art away from mere object production and position collective dialogue as a vital mental landscape of our contemporary era.
Since 2025, the series has been published by Intellect in the Performing Ethos: International Journal of Ethics in Theatre & Performance (PEET). The complete series is compiled below.
Momentum depends on the frame of reference. In any inertial frame, it is a constant quality.
If a closed system is not affected by external forces, its total linear momentum does not change.
